The differnce between first and 2nd was $25. If I knew that I would have ended it a little earlier. We ended up fighting it out for over a hour. Very tight player, who rarely called. I lost with a pair of aces, vs him catching four 6's.

And I finally decided to cash out most of it, since it'll prob take 2 months for the cheque to get here. There's a little under $700 still left.

Cashout request time: 2006/06/09 09:13:21

Cashout amount: $1000.00

A check for AUD 1346.61 - $1000.00 will be issued.

Easter & Poker

Had the usual orphan's Easter.

Mike, Tim and Nick came over.

Dinner was good (if I do so say myself, since I cooked it). Roast chiken with spinach and pine nut stuffing, lobster, fettucine with chilli prawn, ham, creamed potatoes, corn, pickle onion/capsicum/carrot, roast potatoes. Think that was it.

Anyway, after that, we broke out the cards to play some poker.

Instead of our normal way of playing, antes and different games, we played texas holdem in tournament mode. 1000 in chips, blinds start at 25/50 and double every 15 minutes.

First two games buy in was $10. Winner got $35, second got $15. After that it was a $1 buy in. Winner got $3.50, second got $1.50.

I won the first one, Nick came second.
Nick won the second, Lana came second.
Nick won the third, I came second.
Nick won the fourth, I came second.

Now I was fairly drunk from now. I think Tim won the 4th with Lana as second. And the final one I think Mike won, with Lana as second. Can't remember though.

Now from that you might think Nick was good. BS, he was frigging lucky. Knocked Lana out when she had 2 pair by catching a straight on the river. Knocked me out heads up, calling an all in 'cos he's bored with a q 2. Did the same to Mike as well to win one.

He also got pocket aces twice, and pocket kings twice.

Ended up finishing up at about 2 in the morning.

Also, Lana is now addicted to poker. She had a dream that night where she was playing poker and she was trying to convince Nick that a chicken was actually an ace, so she should win.

Australian Poker League Semi-Finals

I played one of the worst games I have ever played in tournament play.

Maybe it was the lights, the fact it was a final, the free hat, who knows. I played crap.

Alex, Tim and Lana showed up to watch.

Made 2 mistakes, first one minor, second one major.

First one, had 9 10 off. On BB, so checked. Flop came 10 J 2. I bet 200, double the blind. Aggresive bluffer on the other end went all in for 900, so 700 more for me to call. I folded. Should have called, I probably had him beat.

Then I had pocket 2's. Just limped hoping to catch trips. Flop came 10 J 2 all spades. I check, not hoping to trap, but hoping to see what everone else had. 4 players in. All check. Next card a red Ace. I bet 300. Guy to my left, who is a very tight player raises 300. Everyone else folds. I call. I know I'm beat, but I'm hoping the board pairs. Next card no help. I check, he bets 1000, almost all my stack. For some stupid reason, without hesitation I call. Of course he had a straight. I'm down to 200.

2 hands later I'm all in blind. Of course I end up getting 2 pair on the board, losing to the same guy with another straight.

I wish I could say, oh well that's poker, but I played like crap.

Did win $US52 online when I got home and played another tournament.

Australian Poker League

Today was the last week of the Australian Poker League.

Tim had to work, but showed up, and was planning to go back.

He went all in for the first hand after a rag flop with pocket 6's. Other guy had pocket 9's. Tim's first player out. He gets a $10 bistro voucher for his troubles.

My table had Sydney City Region Leader and 2 other guys who were in the semi's. So half the table knew what they were doing.

I manage to cripple the Sydney City leader 3rd or 4th hand with a check raise.

He was out soon after.

Played a few hands, didn't catch much.

Down to 500. A5 suited. One player has limped, blinds left. I go all in. 2 callers. Catch 2 aces on the flop. Win it.

Very next hand I catch pocket aces. I raise double the blind. BB raises 600, I go all in. He calls. He has 25 in chips more than me. We flip them. He has pocket jacks. He catches 2 jacks on the flop. 4 of a frigging kind. I don't catch any aces, I'm out.

Oh well, that's poker :)

Hopefully I used up my bad luck today :)
